Kindness
As the season changes it can get pretty dark.
The days grow dreary and life feels hard.
We all get stressed ‘cause life is tough
with the news and family and work and stuff…
We all know the feeling when we just need a hand,
or a hug, or some space or - “I understand.”
No one is perfect and we all do our best
to get through the days that feel like a mess.
If we know this ourselves and in those who surround us
it must so be true for the strangers around us.
We don’t see the bandages people wear on their hearts
or the armour they carry from dawn until dark.
But what if some kindness could cut through the pain?
Could lighten the load and turn a light on again?
An act of kindness that needn’t be grand,
just a smile, acknowledgement or a helping hand.
Just quietly waiting to give to space.
To listen with heart, and empathetic grace.
To recognise achievement and to compliment out loud
you can see them light up and feel more proud.
It plants a seed of connection and a moment of care
that will be passed on, to another somewhere.
A bit like a hug you can’t give without receiving;
kindness too is a way of self healing;
It feels good to be kind; to make a connection
without need for exchange or reward as intention.
Just, to walk away with a knowing heart
that in a world of grey, you’ve lit a spark.
So let’s start with ourselves - “What can I do today?
To plant some kindness to grow…a long way.”
