108 Charitable Sun Salutations - A Charity Summer Solstice Celebration

Early Bird: £40 (5 spots available) | Full Price: £45

Join us to celebrate the longest day of the year and raise money for local charity, Herts Young Homeless.

Join us as we welcome the longest day of the year with a powerful and devotional practice of 108 Sun Salutations, guided by a collective of ten incredible teachers (scroll down to check them out). Together, we’ll move, breathe, and honour the turning of the season in a shared rhythm - a moving meditation rooted in tradition, strength, and intention.

This is both a marathon and a celebration, held under the open sky on our beautiful Orchard Platform, immersed in the views and sounds of nature, as we move with the setting sun. Should the weather shift, we’ll move indoors and carry the light with us.

Whether you complete all 108, take your practice to a meditation of stillness, or move mindfully through a portion, this is a chance to gather with like-minded souls and ignite our hearts through a ritual of prayer and celebration.

All profits will be going to local charity, Herts Young Homeless.

Light refreshments will be provided for nourishment.

Reserve your place and be part of something meaningful this Solstice.

Why 108 Sun Salutations?

People practice 108 sun salutations because the number 108 carries deep symbolic, spiritual, and cosmological meaning in yoga, Hinduism, Buddhism, and other Eastern traditions. It’s seen as a sacred number, and practicing 108 repetitions becomes a form of moving meditation, devotion, and transformation.

In Yoga Philosophy there are 108 lines of energy (nadis) converging to form the heart chakra.

In Malas (Prayer Beads) a mala contains 108 beads, used for counting mantras during meditation.

In Vedic Cosmology there are 108 Upanishads, which are ancient spiritual texts central to Hindu philosophy.

In Astronomy the average distance between the Earth and the Sun is roughly 108 times the Sun’s diameter. The same is true for the Moon and Earth - a symbolic alignment.

In Ayurveda there are said to be 108 sacred points (marma points) on the human body.
