Event Overview

I am looking forward to hosting the first of my three Yoga Journey events in 2026, in the luxurious and tranquil, natural settings of Cucumber Fields. This is a private event in the Main Barn, reserved solely for those attending A Yoga Journey, from 11:30am – 2:30pm.

As Life is a Journey, so too is Yoga. A Yoga Journey is designed to support and transport you out of your usual Sunday environment, welcoming you into the natural world to rest, restore and rebalance. A Yoga Journey is an antidote to a busy and stressful world.

We begin in the beautiful Yoga Shala, where we will focus on the mind, body and breath to rebalance and calm the central nervous system. You can expect a gentle and accessible Hatha Yoga practice, designed to soothe, stretch, and calm with Asanas (Postures) chosen especially for their opening and nurturing properties, creating space in body and mind. After making physical space in the body, we will explore a Pranayama (breathing) practise known to soothe and balance the central nervouse system, moving you out of “fight or flight” into “rest and digest.”

We will then enjoy a Yoga Nidra (Yogic Sleep) practise – a guided meditation where you are led through a systematic relaxation of body, breath and mind. You’re not quite asleep, rather in that blissful “almost” state. There’s nothing to “do”, except be guided by my voice, through layers of awareness: your physical body, your breath, sensations and emotions, into a deeper state of consciousness. Studies have shown brainwave activity during Yoga Nidra resembles deep sleep and calms a cortisol stress response, moving you out of “fight or flight into “rest and digest”.

After Yoga Nidra, we will gently “awaken” and join each other in circle to reflect on any shifts that have happened in the mind, breath and body from the practise so far.

We will then gather in The heart of the The Barn - The Pantry - for a refreshments, a comfort break. Here we will explore a “5 Senses Meditation” a Mindfulness practise using Mother Nature and our own 5 senses: sight, sound, smell, taste and touch. Using Cucumber Fields woodlands, apple trees and animal paddocks as our anchor, we’ll move slowly and purposefully, anchoring our mind to all that we see, hear, smell, touch and taste. This grounding mindfulness practise is especially useful for rumination and anxiety, as it gently interrupts the overthinking loop, without forcing it.

We will return to The Yoga Shala where today’s Yoga Journey, will come to a close. Here we will give thanks and gratitude for the time we have journeyed together and end with a simple intention and gong.
