This year, Jambo comes to present a day within the fascinating theme of “The Piriformis: The Gate of Flow & Liberation” that will welcome yoga students with anything from minimal yoga experience right through to more advanced teachers wanting a deeper dive of learning immersion.
Professionals can also claim CPD points from participating in this day of inspirational education.
The Importance of the Piriformis
The Piriformis is a small but integral deep hip muscle responsible for rotational movement, hip stability and fluidity. However, this fascinating muscle is more connected to our overall wellbeing than many realise. The Piriformis is often referred to as the muscle of survival; contracting when we feel unsafe and gripping when we hold fear in the body. If the Piriformis is tight and overactive, it may be compensating for a deep-seated fear of moving forward. If it is weak or disengaged, we may feel directionless, unstable, or disconnected from our personal power.
In Chinese Medicine, it is recognised that the Piriformis is located just above a powerful acupoint (known as GB30) that activates circulation, removes stagnation, and frees trapped energy in the lower body. It has the capacity to unravel the protective patterns held in the Piriformis, freeing us from both muscular tightness and the emotional weight of stored fear. It allows us to step out of hesitation and into trust, restoring both physical balance and a sense of clarity in decision-making.
This workshop, guided by international master, Jambo Truong, blends biomechanics, somatic movement, acupressure, and emotional processing to unlock the Piriformis and reclaim freedom of movement.
